National Museum of Namibia
The National Museum of Namibia is situated in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, Africa. It maintains two display centers, the Owela Museum and the Alte Feste Muuseum. The Owela primarily houses displays on elements of Namibian natural history and certain traditional cultural practices of Namibian people (ethnography). The Alte Feste contains displays on Namibia's colonial and more recent history, as well as topical displays on cultural aspects in Namibia. Admission to these display centers are free.
The National Museum of Namibia also maintains extensive collections of objects related to Namibian natural history, cultures, history, and archaeology. It has active research programmes to improve its collections and associated information. Most of these collections, as well as the administrative offices and Reference Library, is situated in the Museum ACRE.
